Empires edition will use basic formula taken from the Dynasty Warriors Series.

Famitsu have revealed details for Samurai Warriors 4: Empires, the upcoming continuation of Samurai Warriors 4. As is tradition with the Empire editions, more strategic gameplay will be added to the experience, meaning a good mix of both country conquering and action-packed large-scale battles.

All the characters from Samurai Warrors 4-II, itself an expansion of the original Samurai Warriors 4, will be included in Empires, as well as its combat system. A new feature for Empires will be ‘Resident Domestic Administration’. This links on to Koei Tecmo’s comments that they want there to be a greater focus on preparation for battle, rather than just sprinting in ‘Leeroy Jenkins’ style.  To assist with planning there will be an in-game room where you can work on developments of your enemies positions as well as issue commands.SW4E_Fami-shot_06-03-15_003

Koei Tecmo have said that Empires will be one of the most strategic games in the series, and battles will involve pushing the position of your frontline and gaining control as you head to the enemy headquarters. As is the case with all previous entries in the series, the game will progress as you try to grow your land and amass power through your recruited commanders.

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires is set to release on September 3rd in Japan for PS Vita, PS3 and PS4. Keep checking back to TVL as we bring you the latest news on Samurai Warriors 4 and its many expansions.

I haven’t tried an empires game in the warriors series, so I’ll give it a try.
