Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment have joined forces to promote the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV expansion Heavensward in Japan. Revealed were special editions of all of Sonys supported gaming platforms, including the PS3, PS4 and of course the PS Vita and PS TV.

The PS Vita version will cost 20,980 yen (£109.55/$168.48) and includes:

  • A special Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward themed White PS Vita (above).
  • A Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward theme download code (below).
  • A Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward original sleeve.

The PS TV bundle will cost 16,280 yen (£84.99/$130.74) and includes:

  • A Dualshock 3 controller
  • A Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward themed White PS TV (above).
  • A Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward theme download code .
  • A Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward original sleeve.

These special editions will all release simultaneously, and will con-inside with the release of the Heavensward expansion in Japan on June 23rd. Although these certainly are interesting designs, PS Vita and PS TV owners shouldn’t get too excited, as Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward isn’t compatible with either platform.     What? Why if you cant even play on the Vita? I’ve never heard of this before (game themed console that you cant play on the console!).

    Maybe its a sign that they want to release it on Vita (see how many it sells then maybe port it)?. But wouldn’t this be a more expensive way of finding out??

    • Technically you can play it through remote play but I agree with you wholeheartedly. It doesn’t make much sense.
