Square Enix has revealed that their own version of Minecraft is coming to the PlayStation Vita in the form of Dragon Quest Builders.

This new game is also coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 and is set to release in Japan this winter.

A single screenshot for the game was revealed (see below), alongside a brief description of the game and a teaser website.

In Dragon Quest Builders players will be tasked with rebuilding the world of Alefgard (the land where the first Dragon Quest title takes place) after it has been destroyed by the Dragon King.

This is where the Minecraft similarities come into play as you will rebuild this world by collecting blocks and assembling structures out of them – with no restrictions bar your own imagination!

Dragon Quest Builders has been given the description of a ‘block-making RPG’, so we may find┬áthat this game has more of a prevalent story than Minecraft does.

With no news yet of a Western release, here’s hoping that Square Enix do decide to localise this title as it sure does appeal to me! Is this something you would like to see appear on the PlayStation Vita in your region? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to check the site regularly for further news on this game as and when we have it!

    EXCITE! <3

  • Finally another vita title I’m looking forward to. I wouldn’t worry about localization guys if Minecraft is any indication on how well that style of game does internationally then this game will be in all regions.

While Minecraft fails to excite me, this does.
