Bitup is an upcoming side-scrolling hack-‘n’-slash game Vita game and we now have some more details on it.

The game takes place inside an abandoned 1990s video game and has you taking the control of the samurai protagonist, attempting to find answers inside the world. The world will have a blocky look to it and is meant to show what it would look like to the characters inside of it – it has a 3D look inspired by Cubism and it’s a world made out of cubes.

Not much has been revealed storywise, but a fake E3 1996 interview question from the game’s fictional creator Maxine Levesque has given us a bit of context to the world:

“This is the only statement I will make regarding Bitup: It’s a mistake, I have decided to stop its development and leave the industry altogether. The decision comes out of personal motives.”

We’ll have to wait until 2016 to uncover the mysterious world of Bitup, but for more news on the game be sure to stay tuned to The Vita Lounge.

Could be interesting. I already like the art direction, so it’s won me over in that regard… remaining cautiously skeptical.
