Two new videos showing off Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Fortress’ gameplay have been revealed.

This first video shows a high-ranking mission, where you are defending your headquarters from the rushing Acguys and other Mobile Suit units that spawn from other areas. It’s akin to a battle of survival and endurance. A few walls and artillery that shoot down enemies are what protect the headquarters.

However, you won’t manually be controlling the mobile suit units that make up your crew.  Instead, they have their own characteristics that vary depending on who is manning them. Various skills will be useful in boosting parameters when the game starts getting chaotic. Base defense missions are cleared when you are able to eliminate all the enemy Mobile Suits.

The second video shows off the attacking missions — you’ll gather your own units and rush enemy walls in order to take down their headquarters and win. You start the mission by placing your units within the blue area, utilizing the Vita’s touchscreen.

Things will quickly become hectic though. Along with having powerful Gundams, you’ll use weaker units like Zakus, Acguys and other Mobile Suits to assault the headquarters. While these units don’t have skills, they will serve as your decoys or by being too gruesome in number. While attacking enemies’ bases, your enemies will try to wipe out your horde of Mobile Suits – and this is where your offensive skills shine. They’ll assist you in destroying their walls, artilleries and other defenses.

Just as I thought, not a true RTS. It’s just Clash of Clans with a Gundam skin. I was hoping for something along the lines of Starcraft, Command and Conquer or Dune 2000.
