We get a better look at the newly announced Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky via some newly released screenshots from Famitsu.
Taking place in present day Tokyo and also on a whole ‘nother planet called Protolexia, twelve teens have acquired the gift of immortality from an evil spirit within them and end up getting into trouble with the gods.
Dungeon crawling in Exist Archive consists of deformed chibi characters in a side view style jumping, dashing, and running head on into battles (in symbol encounter fashion). Pre-emptive strikes on your enemy will result in pre-emptive strikes in battle, so be sure to run in head on if you’re looking for a fight.
The battle system itself features an “Active Chain Battle” feature, whereby you’ll be able to control up to four characters at a time. The characters will respond to the PlayStation symbols – Δ □ o x – and attack accordingly when you press the button.
You’ll also be able to gather into formations in Exist Archive, and front row characters will be able to dish out more damage in exchange for getting hit more often – with back row characters getting the opposite treatment (less damage, less chance of getting hit).
That’s all we’ve got for now, but we do know that Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky is set to release in Japan sometime in 2015.
