It appears that the software development kit for Vita themes was recently updated, as new themes on the Japanese PSN seem to have never-before-seen changes.

PlayStation Vita themes have been out a while now, dropping with firmware v3.30 on October 1st of last year – however a pair of brand new themes have just been released on the Japanese PlayStation Store that show off changes we’ve never seen before.

TVL Forum user (and NeoGAF regular) Takao has pointed out that the two new Wooser themes allow for the notification icon in the top right to be changed by the theme, along with the page indicator on the left hand side. The Japanese PlayStation Blog’s post on the subject mirrors this idea, mentioning the changes in their post as well.

Here’s two examples of the new changes;

While no themes on the North American or European PlayStation Stores have been reported to have these changes (yet), we’re sure it’s only a matter of time now that we’ve seen it in the wild in Japan.

On that note, eager members of the Japanese PlayStation Network can pick up the two themes for 500 yen as a set, or grab them one by one for 300 yen each.

      It’s only been 3 years, you’ll have to wait at least 2 more years for a succesor. In the mean time enjoy the good old reliable Vita.
