Koei Tecmo have announced that a fully fledged sequel to the demon slaying hack ‘n’ slash title Toukiden will be launching on PlayStation Vita in Japan sometime in 2016.

Very little is known about Toukiden 2 at present but the game is said to feature open worlds and new ways to defeat enemies, a trailer shown at the TGS 2015 Sony Press conference showed some kind of Demon arm coming from a female character latching onto demons.

It’s early days for the title at the moment, but the game is set to launch in 2016 and we’ll be sharing more news as soon as we learn anything on the title, in the meantime why not catch up on the series by checking out our Toukiden: Kiwami review from earlier this year?

I’m glad they’re launching a new Tokiden to improve on the formula and not remake it. I just hope we get to see freedom wars and soul sacrifice get sequels too, since those three IP’s are the trinity of monster hunting on the Vita. But on other unrelated and honestly sad news, gravity rush 2 isn’t even going to touch the Vita. They moved it to PS4. The TGS conference was a mixed bag and for every good announcement like Tokiden 2 there was a terrible announcement like Gravity Rush leaving the Vita. It’s unfortunate that Sony seems to get off on not killing the Vita, but crippling it by removing these amazing titles from it. But I guess we have to look at the silver lining.
