Finally some good news when it comes to apps on the Vita. Twitch announced during its TwitchCon 2015 keynote that a dedicated app would soon be available for PlayStation consoles, and yes, that also includes the Vita. The Twitch app will join Live From PlayStation as a way players can watch games streams right from their device. You will be able to follow and interact with any broadcaster and live game stream on the service. It’s the full Twitch experience in the palm of your hand.

Well… it’s almost the full experience. Players won’t be able to stream their Vita games through the app, but only watch other streams. While such a feature would be nice to have, the Vita simply wasn’t built with streaming in mind. PS4 players will be able to stream through their consoles however.

The app situation on the Vita has been brutal lately, so this news is great to hear. Following the recent announcement that the Facebook app was losing support, it’s good to know that not everyone has abandoned the Vita.

The app is expected to release this Fall, so we shouldn’t have long to wait.

  • Wish we could stream directly to twitch with it. would love to stream persona 4

The Live from PlayStation app is pretty limited in what streams you can watch, so I’m glad we’ll be getting a much more robust selection with this Twitch app. I’ll definitely be checking it out.

That’s awesome. I personally won’t use it, because I use my laptop to watch the few streamers I follow. But it’s cool for those who wanted it!

Nice! Perhaps I’ll finally have an excuse to create a Twitch account, and see what all the fuss is all about.
