Dragon Quest Builders is set in a ‘what if’ world where the hero says ‘yes’ to joining the Dragonlord. This was an actual option that players of the original Famicom title were given, where joining the Dragonlord results in you receiving a share of half the world (and a game over screen)! This leads for the world to become dominated by the Dragonlord, and in Dragon Quest Builders a youth appears and stands up against the Dragonlord and his tyranny – which is where the story of the game begins.
In the latest information that has been revealed about the game, we learn that there are three main elements that come into play for restoring towns in order to revive the land of Alefgard.
In order to create new items, you’ll need to defeat enemies and collect the material that drops.
You can’t bring back towns and villages unless you create new items. This will be done using materials acquired from monsters and gathered from the fields.
With enough resources and items, you’ll get to put together new buildings, which will be the first step in making towns.
Dragon Quest Builders will also feature items called ‘Design Plans’ that will allow for you to create buildings with ease, so those that struggle with all the block-building you will find this feature is perfect for you!
Once you find a space where you would like to make your building you can consult the Design Plans that will tell you exactly what is required and how to go about constructing. Follow the plans and place the blocks as stipulated, and the building will be complete before you know it!
The Design Plans will start off simple, but before you know it you will be making some awesome looking structures like the one you see in the image above.
Finally, there are plenty of familiar monsters that will make an appearance in the game. These enemies will occasionally form groups and attack your town, which will prevent you from furthering its development until you eradicate the danger.
Dragon Quest Builders is set to release in Japan on January 28th. There has been no news as of yet on a Western release, but our fingers are crossed that this title does make the jump. Are you eager to play this title? Let us know in the comments below!
