I may be dating myself, but The Oregon Trail was a staple of my childhood. There was nothing like being able to go to the computer lab in school and hunt buffalo while trying to stave off dysentery. The only flaw the game really had was a complete lack of zombies. Fortunately, that problem has now been rectified as the team from The Men Who Wear Many Hats have announced that they’re bringing Organ Trail Complete Edition to the PlayStation Vita.

Organ Trail is a zombie survival game that is heavily influenced from that classic game with a similar sounding name. Hop into the station wagon and drive west as you scavenge for supplies and fight off hoards of zombies.

It was originally released five years ago as a web-based game, but it’s now making its way onto both the Vita and the PS4 as a cross-buy title. In addition to the original game, this “Complete Edition” will also feature both the Endless Expansion and the brand new Final Cut Expansion. Both of these expansions bring more vehicles, more characters, more cities, more bandits, and probably more dysentery (though that last one is just a guess on my part).

Organ Trail Complete Edition is scheduled to release next week on October 20. Check out the live action trailer to get a glimpse of what the game looks like (actual gameplay doesn’t come in until around 3:57).

I’ve never survived by I have bought this game a couple times, it’s a great Oregon Trail kinda game, the zombies are creepy, and sometimes you have to fight even creepier things.

Haha, this game looks awesome. I also played a lot of Oregon Trail back in my childhood, and this looks like a cool modern update…with zombies. I’m interested in learning more about this one, especially the co-op.

The game’s really good. The best nod to OT I’ve played. I have it on PC. I hope it doesn’t cost -too- much though.

What an involution. Not even a NES or an Amiga game, it seems an early 80s Atari game.

    • vongruetz .

No, it looks EXACTLY like the original Oregon Trail game being played on an Apple ii. Those of us growing up in the 80’s will look at it and immediately recognize it. It’s so spot on, except instead of shooting rabbits and bears, you’re taking out the undead.

What a fantastic ad! Matches the mayhem that is OT perfectly!
