The wait is over. Today 2K took to the PlayStation Blog to officially announced that that the turn-based strategy game Civilization Revolution 2 Plus is coming to the PlayStation Vita on December 3.
Those of you who have been following this debacle know that clues as to this game’s coming have been dropping for months now, and we knew it was all but certain to be coming soon.
Civilization is a game that allows you to build up a civilization, beginning at the dawn of time and carrying it through the space age. Can you out-do some of the greatest leaders of all time as you build cities, pave roads, and build grand Wonders of the World to create the most dominate civilization of all time? You can play as either a military warlord, defeating your enemies through force, or as a skilled diplomat and negotiate your way to victory. The path you choose to take your civilization is yours to make.
Civilization Revolution is a version of the core game that was specifically designed with consoles in mind, and Civilization Revolution 2 Plus for the PS Vita was made exclusively for this platform. The people at 2K took into account the popularity of the Vita in Japan, and they have added some exclusive content that centers around the island nation.
There will be a number of additional leaders, units, and scenarios that come from Japanese history. One new unit that is being added is the Yamato class battleship. This heavily armed floating fortress was once the terror of the Pacific, and now it will be yours to command as you dominate the high seas.
The additional Japanese leaders will include Oda Nobunaga, Heihachiro Togo, and Himiko. Nobunaga will give players a bonus during the medival era and with samurai. Togo provides bonuses in naval combat, and Himiko gives bonuses in diplomatic and government related matters.
New scenarios will also be available to players including “Journey to the West” which features TaiZong as he tries to defeat Saladin in order to capture Byzantium. Other scenarios mentioned were “Wrath of Emperor Kublai,” “Samurai Invasion of Korea,” “Z-flag Swirls,” and “Dark Clouds in the Pacific.” These are all scenarios taken from the history pages of Japan and will be exclusively available on the Vita.
There is still no word yet on pricing, but if you want to get your holiday off to a good start, then Civilization Revolution 2 Plus will be available as a digital download on December 3. Now it’s only a matter of time before we get word about XCOM on the Vita as well.
