Unannounced and with absent fireworks, a magically named dungeon crawler makes a quiet release in Japan.

Acquire’s Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls released today (December 3rd) in Japan, though unless you noticed a recent trophy list pop-up on Exophase you’d certainly be forgiven for not knowing – as it wasn’t even announced for release.

Check out a release trailer for the game below;

Last we heard, this (originally) PlayStation 3 dungeon crawler was released in North America in Europe in 2011, after an initial Japanese release in December of 2009 – but now… you can pick it up on the Japanese PSN for 1600 yen (or 2400 yen if you want all the DLC).

Those who’re somewhat apprehensive – and why wouldn’t you be as this was quite stealthily released – can pick up the free trial, though we’d like to note that the game doesn’t work on PlayStation TV (as I found out the hard way).

    I guess someone wanted to outdo the other stealth releases for the Vita. What better way than to stealth release it without even announcing the game? I’m surprised I haven’t heard of this happening before now, or maybe I have and just forgot.

    I never bothered with this game on PS3 because I felt it would be a better fit on a handheld, so I’m glad to see it come to Vita. Hopefully it makes it to North America.

    I remember getting the Platinum for this on PS3. Boy was that a job….
