Thought there were no Vita games to get excited about? We are back with our list of ten upcoming Vita games (updated for December) that we can’t wait to play!

Severed (non mover)

Still our most anticipated Vita title and we really can’t wait. Are you excited for this? With touch mechanics for lopping off enemy limbs and set in a “fully stylised twisted reality” this Vita exclusive can’t come soon enough.

New Danganronpa V3 (up)

Long-time visitors to The Vita Lounge will know that we love the Danganronpa series, so the announcement of a new title has really excited many members of the team, and as this post was written a few details are starting to trickle out. Are you excited?

We got some hands-on with this upcoming RPG at EGX and it’s amazing. The art style, the action, the vision. It’s incredibly impressive and we simply have to have it, and it’s getting closer each month!

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (Up)

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth_2015_07-03-15_005

Set in the near future, the line between digital worlds and reality is becoming blurred, and logging into cyberspace is part of everyday life. For one teenager, a harmless online chat results in a chance encounter with a mysterious hacker and sets the adventure into motion. This releases in early Frebruary – have you pre-ordered yet?

Legends of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (New)

The quirks of how we write these posts mean that this is now out in NA, and ff you love colourful and action-packed RPG games, you’ll want to look out for this. We will have a review for you very soon!

Attack on Titan (Down)

As the first screens and trailers are hitting, the excitement for this title is building. Based on the anime of the same name, we hope to find out more on this very soon.

Axiom Verge (Down)

Axiom Verge

The developer, Tom Happ, had some time out with baby related priorities and has told us that this will hopefully be out early in the new year. This retro-styled 2D Metroidvania title is inspired by classic games like Rygar, Contra, Bionic Commando, Blaster Master and Metroid.

Not a Hero (Up)

Not a Hero

Not A Hero has been an ever-present in these lists. Which probably means it’s taking too long for the reflex-testing cover-based shooter to come out. Vote BunnyLord! Come on Devolver Digital, where is it?

Bastion (New)

Surprising announced for release at PSX, the only reason you have for not play Bastion is because you are reading this. So go!

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus (Non-mover)

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus

The newest title in the series has the largest roster yet. It also has more moves, more story and more destruction than ever before as well as online match ups with up to four other players. A fan of Senran Kagura? Then you’ll be wanting this!

That rounds off our list. What do you make of these choices? Are you excited for any of these games or is there something else that is high on your wish list? Let us know in the comments!

No mention of salt and sanctuary?

    • Some of the team are excited for Salt and Sanctuary, some aren’t and these ten games were the result of a collective vote. That there are easily more than ten exciting upcoming Vita games shows how bright the future still is for those that enjoy those games.

How can Bastion be upcoming when it was released on Vita early this month? Very much looking forward to Salt and Sanctuary, and Hyper Light Drifter.

    • This list was complied for our magazine, which was completed before we knew Bastion was being released. Joys of deadlines!

One annoying aspect of the treatment Vita gets from Sony. New games just “pop up” without prior notice. I recently discovered VVVVVV was released for Vita some time ago. I had been waiting for that game for a long time without hearing a word about it. Then it was just there. I guess this kinda how it feels to have an absent father with a drinking problem – he’s gone for a long while and then he just pops up, acting like nothing happened.

One annoying aspect of the treatment Sony gets from people. They blame them for things they should not be blamed for. They put VVVVVV – just as every other game – in their “The Drop” and “PlayStation Store Update” blog posts at the PlayStation Blog. Why would Sony promote 3rd party games more than that in the first place? Nicalis could easily post updates about their games on PS.Blog, etc. You should blame Nicalis for not posting updates (at least not on PS.Blog) on the Vita Version of VVVVVV for almost 2 years!

          • Reza Gerami

Well, I don’t check the PS Blog, just the store page. Updating the store with things like “upcoming games” and giving more attention to new titles couldn’t be that much of a hassle? Why would Sony promote 3rd party titles? Well, first of all I assume they make money on every game sold for a Sony platform. Second of all; it’s their store. Sure, developers could do more as well but since the Vita hasn’t been doing all too well, I assumed it would be in Sonys best interest that titles being released for the Vita gets more attention.

Probably also why God Eater Resurrection and Rage Burst aren’t on the list.

So many awesome Vita games to look forward this year. My personal top three are pretty much Severed, Downwell, and Salt and Sanctuary (in that order).

As for Axiom Verge, do we happen to know if it’ll be cross-buy with the PS4 version, at all? It’s currently under £10 on PSN, so if it does support cross-buy, I may just grab it sooner rather than later.

By the way, really looking forward to the Trails of Cold Steel review!
