Alexander Burke from Out of Bounds Games has announced Laser Disco Defenders; a procedurally-generated twin-stick shooter that’s on its way to Vita.

Inspired by the sci-fi and music scene of the late 70’s, Laser Disco Defenders is a “groovy procedural twin-stick laser dodging bullet hellish disco infused hot podge” where every shot fired bounces indefinitely around the level, hurting everything it hits… including you.

Sound interesting? Well here’s the set-up for the story mode (via the PSBlog);

On a stage, in a galaxy far far away…

The Intergalactic music contest is in full swing to decide who will win the mighty Mirror Moon. Whoever holds it can project their music across the galaxy and affect billions so a lot is at stake. Unfortunately the evil Lord Monotone has stolen it and is using it to wreak havoc on countless unsuspecting civilizations across the cosmos. Your task is to help the Disco Defenders fight their way to Monotone and get the Mirror Moon out of the grasp of his cold steel hands.

Hmm, that sounds like quite an adventure! Thankfully you can outfit yourself in different items that will aide you in your gameplay, choices like the accessory, outfit, or shoes you pick altering your abilities and looks in-game.

Plus, if story mode doesn’t fuel your ship, then there’s also an endless score mode; letting you rack up the points until you simply can’t handle the heat. Or you can use it like a training mode for the story bits, honing your skills so you can progress.

Is all this sounding like something you might enjoy?

Developed by Out of Bounds, and published by Excalibur Games, Laser Disco Defenders is on its way to PlayStation Vita. We’re not quite sure when, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we find out!

    Wasn’t really interested until I got to the part about your shots indefinitely bouncing around the level. You’re literally creating your own bullethell. Neat!
