A notice on the PlayStation Network status page has informed us of some maintenance scheduled for the middle of the night going into the 19th.

For clairty, here’s the full notice – courtesy of the Network Status page (which we link to on our homepage);

Scheduled maintenance reminder

Affected Platforms: PS4™ , PS3™ , PS Vita , Web , Other

Affected Services: Routine maintenance and improvements for PlayStation™Network will be performed for approximately 2 hours on 04/19/2016, 12:30 AM to 04/19/2016, 2:30 AM (Your Local Timezone). Anyone who already has an account can still sign in to their PlayStation™Network profile, play games, and use most applications while this maintenance is carried out. You will not be able to access Account Management, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Store during this maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience. We recommend activating your PS4™ as your primary console before maintenance begins so you can continue to play most games and use 3rd party services during maintenance. To activate your console, sign in to your PlayStation™Network profile and select [Settings] > [PlayStation™Network/Account Management] > [Activate as Your Primary PS4] > [Activate]. You only need to do this once. We strive to ensure that PlayStation™Network services are available at all times, but occasionally we must take PlayStation™Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements. We are working hard to reduce the duration of each maintenance.

Start: 04/19/2016, 12:30 AM

End: 04/19/2016, 2:30 AM

My local timezone is Eastern, which is GMT-4. If all regions are in maintenance simultaneously, that means that maintenance will start at 9:30pm on April 18th for those on the West coast of North America (PDT / GMT-7), and 5:30am on April 19th for those in the UK (GMT+1).

Make sure to log in before the maintenance, and get any Store purchases done as well – they note two hours of “down time,” but it’s always possible that it runs long and you don’t want to miss out on a buy or a deal because the network was down a little longer than planned. Plan ahead yourself, and beat them to the punch. 😉

    It never fails to amaze me that they plan on doing system maintenance on new release day. Well, it’s probably new release day every day of the week depending on where you live… oh well. Here’s hoping it goes smoothly.
