After April spoiled us on the new releases front, May is upon us with a considerably shorter line-up. Don’t let that dishearten you though, with titles such as Ray Gigant, One Piece: Burning Blood and MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies releasing this month, what May lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality!

Now we all know that some games can appear out of the blue and release on our favourite handheld with only a few days notice, but here are the key titles that we can expect this month;

Perks and weapon upgrades can be earned as you play to make zombie killing that much easier. Story collectibles are scattered throughout the levels and will provide dedicated players a more in-depth look into the world of Corridor Z.

Neverending Nightmares

Release Date – May 3rd NA / May 4th EU

neverending nightmares

In Neverending Nightmares, you play as Thomas, a weak young man who you discover, as the game progresses, to be trapped in progressively worse and worse nightmares. You must flee and hide from what takes place in the nightmare in order to awaken him in the real world.

The horror game also features branching narrative, where depending on which path you take, you’ll experience a different nightmare and ending. For Vita – and PS4, — Infinitap improved the way branching narrative paths worked. Wanting gamers to experience it all, the development team made it easier to get to the branching points and more obvious to recognize.

Matt Gilgenbach, the president of Infinitap Games, says the game is “a very personal game for me because it’s meant to metaphorically express the experience I’ve had dealing with mental illness – specifically obsessive compulsive disorder and depression. It was a real challenge to develop a game to express those dark feelings, but my team and I have created a really unique interactive experience. I know I called it a “game” up above, but I think interactive experience is a more apt description.

Ray Gigant

Release Date – May 3rd NA & EU

raygigant_ss_(7)

Ray Gigant is an “end of the world” dungeon crawling RPG that takes place in the future where a giant is on the verge of destroying Earth as we know it. For reasons we still do not know, three high school students; Kazuya Tenpu, Kyle Griffin, and Nil Phineas join the fray in a chapter based adventure that includes each character.

The game’s key features are;

  • Guided by Fate! – Play through three different points of view to uncover the
    mystery behind what’s happened in this world. Players must battle against
    Gigants and a myriad of other characters.
  • Keep Your Eyes Open! – Fight skyscraper-sized bosses in battles with 3-Way
    views! For special boss battles, each of the characters will utilize their special
    abilities! Varying from close to long range on the field, strategically plan
    attacks from each characters’ position!
  • Slash Beat Mode! – The rhythm-based battle action system, Slash Beat Mode,
    allows characters to unleash their hidden power of transformation by offering
    their body to their Yorigamis. If timed correctly with the rhythm-based
    commands, the enemy will receive a tremendous amount of damage.
  • Evolve Tree System! – Level up your characters’ stats with the Evolve Tree
    System! Master all three branches of the tree (Physical, Command, Item) to
    bring your character to new heights!

Jenny recently reviewed Ray Gigant for the site and said “Ray Gigant is a beautiful dungeon crawler with a strong focus on story and it’s characters. There are some interesting new game mechanics but the game is let down slightly by some repetitive dungeons. Overall it is really fun to play and a very welcome addition to the PS Vita’s library of dungeon crawlers!” Interested? Read her full review here.
