Compile Heart has updated the official website for upcoming dungeon crawler Mary Skelter. The latest update gives details on the game’s battle system.
The protagonist Jack will fight alongside a maximum of five girls from the Chishiki Girls Squad. The battles are turn based and you will be able to perform actions based on your speed. If you look at the screenshot below you’ll see that the turn order is displayed in the upper left of the screen.
If all five of the Chishiki Girls are defeated then it will be game over as Jack doesn’t have the ability to fight.
In the dungeons there are monsters known as Marchen. If you attack their weaknesses you can perform overkills which cause a large amount of blood to spray from their bodies. The girls will then have to decide between madness or licking off the blood.
If the girls are continually sprayed with blood and it’s not cleaned off then they will automatically enter Genocide Mode.
In Genocide Mode, the girls stats are increased and they change appearance and behaviour. You’ll also be able to perform a move called Genocide Skill which you can use to decimate your enemies.
Alternatively you can select the Lick skill in battle to get the other girls to lick the blood off their allies. By doing this you can activate the Spirit Blood skill. This helps to recover and strengthen your party. It will also move them away from triggering Genocide Mode.
To Lick or not to Lick, that is the question…
