NIS America will be bringing the title to the west next year.

The roguelike RPG Touhou Genso Wanderer, known in Japan as Mystery Gensokyo: The Tower of Desire, will be heading to the west in 2017 courtesy of NIS America.

For those not in the know, Touhou Genso Wanderer sees you take control of Reimu, the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, who is investigating the latest incident to take place in Gensokyo. Similar to other RPGs, along the way you’ll encounter an array of different characters, lots of loot to use in the games item fusion system and make battle with your favourite Touhou girl accompanying you.

The story begins when Reimu Hakurei is visiting Rinnosuke Morichika at his shop, Kourindo. For reasons unknown at this stage, he shows her his most prized possession, the golden sphere. But, when Reimu touches the sphere, a mysterious beam of light emerges. A number of peculiar events happen at this point, including Rinnosuke acting strange and a giant tower now standing where the shop used to be. Perhaps the most disconcerting part is that all the inhabitants of Gensokyo have now been replicated by clones who attack people on sight. Of course as the Touhou Genso Wanderer, it is up to Reimu to save the day and restore peace to the town!

She isn’t alone though, as she is joined by Futo Mononobe, who has recently set out on a quest to become a first class sage. With her partner, will she be able to make her way through the tower to put an end to this madness?

Still confused? Then perhaps the teaser trailer below will clear things up for you!
