Yacht Club Games has announced a new campaign coming to Shovel Knight featuring the old adversary Specter Knight.

The blog post goes into the details on some of Specter Knight’s new moves. First up is the basic Slash attack used to carve open the enemies in front of you.

Building upon that is the Dash Slash, this is a jump attack, whilst in the air using the slash attack makes you lunge through the air forward a short distance. This move is going to be key for manoeuvring through the levels and taking down enemies.

Specter Knight also possesses the ability to wall climb, he can only climb for short distances though so be sure to plan out your route thoroughly before committing to the climb. So there are the new moves you can expect to be using in the new campaign and there are definitely some interesting new ways to navigate levels with the wall climbing and dashing.

No concrete details were given in the blog post as to when we can expect to see the new campaign arrive, though it’s hopeful we’ll see it sooner rather than later as the folks from Yacht club Games leave us this hopeful message.

“it should arrive sooner than the wait between Shovel Knight and Plague Knight”

The blog post also goes into a few details on what else we can expect from the future of Shovel Knight. Specter Knight is not the only new campaign coming, they’re also working on a King Knight campaign as simultaneously. Though the Specter Knight campaign will still be releasing first.

As well as the new campaigns there are two new modes being worked on as well: Body Swap and Battle Mode. The developers plan to launch one of these modes alongside each of the campaigns. Battle mode is designed as a single screen multiplayer mode and as such isn’t planned to come to the Vita version of the game.

What do you think of the new campaign details? Is this enough to get you to jump back in to the delight that is Shovel Knight? Let us know in the comments below.

Shovel Knight is out already on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. Stay tuned to The Vita Lounge for more information on the new campaigns as we get it.

Really dont care about the battle mode thing, so dont mind it being left out, I just hope the Body Swap comes with Spectre knight, then it gives me an excuse to replay the main game whilst waiting for king knight once Im done with spectre knight.
