Do not pass Midgar. Do not collect 200 gil.
If the words ‘Final Fantasy VII‘ mean nothing to you then I suggest you do yourself a massive favour – pick up your Vita and then download one of the most incredible JRPG’s of all time!
Although it is debatable – Final Fantasy VII is considered to be one of the greatest games ever made and whether you agree with that statement or not, there is no denying the influence this title (and its spiky haired protagonist) have had on the industry.
And it looks like one of the most phenomenal video games of all time is also about to become one of the greatest iterations of a certain boardgame the world has ever seen!
That’s right folks! FFVII is heading to a tabletop near you in the form of Monopoly! And If you head over to video game merchandise specialists Merchoid right now you can even preorder this special edition of the family favourite property tycoon game for a mere £34.99.
The description of the game on Merchoid’s website reads as follows –
‘Delve into the evolving city of Midgar in search of the latest business opportunities. Perhaps you’ll buy up a string of plots for housing development for the people, or go industrial and build a Mako reactor plant.
Trade with fellow players to secure key location and facilities and watch as savvy buyers secure a big pay day. A roll of a dice and a shrewd business mind will pave your way to success…Just watch out in case Shin-ra bring your empire crashing down!‘
Sounds pretty exciting and it has got my nostalgia sense tingling like nobody’s business!
Although there are no pictures of the tokens as of yet, we can only assume (and hope) that they will resemble in game characters such as Cloud and Sephiroth rather than more obscure less interesting things – such as a materia orb.
So with all the great Final Fantasy stuff to look forward to this year (World of Final Fantasy hurry up already), the stealth release of Adventures of Mana on the UK PSN and the fact that as of today pretty much all the Final Fantasys in Square’s back catalogue are now at a reduced price on the UK PSN as part of the Big in Japan sale and this announcement really feels like the icing on the cake!
