Koei Tecmo has updated the official website for Berserk. We now have details for more of the playable characters as well as a few more details about the game’s battle system and a whole load of screenshots.

First up we have Griffith (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai). Griffith is the leader of a mercenary group called Band of the Hawk. He’s a charismatic leader who dreams of ruling his own nation.

Guts (voiced by Hiroaki Iwanaga) is a wandering mercenary. After being defeated by Griffith he decides to join the Band of the Hawk as a raid unit leader.

Casca (voiced by Toa Yukinari) is a Unit Commander in the mercenary group. She was rescued by Griffith as a child and because of this she has always idolised Griffith which is why she decided to join the group. However she doesn’t particularly like Guts and the two of them argue about everything.

Judeau (voiced by Yuki Kaji) is also a member of the Band of the Hawk. He’s a skillful warrior who gets on well with Guts.

After seeing some of the screenshots above you might be curious about learning a bit more about the battle system (and want to see some more gorgeous screenshots). Well never fear I have some more info and plenty more screenshots to show you!

When in battle, the more you fight the more brutal and gruesome your attacks become. They can become so powerful that you can split enemies in two or crush all the life out of them.

There are fearsome monsters known as Apostles that have really powerful attacks. Battles against these creatures will be very tense and surviving these battles will require all of your skill.

There will be plenty of weapons for you to get your hands on. For example the large sword called “Dragonslayer” used by Guts, or the cannon equipped to Guts’ artificial arm with exploding bullets. There are even rapid-fire crossbows available for long range attacks.

Berserk is due for release in Japan on September 21, and for North America and Europe on an as yet unannounced date. Before you go be sure to feast your eyes on these beautiful screenshots!
