Hardcore 16-Bit styled action game rated for Vita release

Have you heard of Volgarr the Viking? It’s a challenging side-scrolling arcade action game from Crazy Viking Studios that was inspired and modelled on the classic titles of the era, with “simple controls, high challenge, and meticulous design”.

With hand-drawn pixel art visuals, many thousands of frames of animation and boasting a soundtrack on a par with a AAA production, the game originally appeared on Kickstarter four years ago and subsequently saw a PC and Xbox One release over two years ago, receiving great reviews. Thanks to Wario64 on Twitter we have learned that the European game ratings board, PEGI have rated the game for a Vita (and PS4) release.

Did this game really come out for the Dreamcast? Really looking forward to this on the Vita!

Sort of, yes. Almost a year ago Crazy Viking Studios gave permission to a guy named Marc Hall to use the original code to port the game to Dreamcast, so it is legit. You have to burn the image to a CD, but it’s the complete game with achievements and everything. You can download it here: http://volgarr.rkd.zone/
