Marvelous are releasing loads of information lately on their upcoming game, Fate/EXTELLA: The Umbral Star. Today’s update will give you some details on characters Cu Chulainn and Li Shuwen as well as some of the enemies you’ll face. If you’ve missed out on any of our previous updates then you really should check them out! You can find them by clicking here.
Cu Chulainn (voiced by Nobutoshi Canna) is a Lancer known as the Child of Light of Ireland. Despite his violent appearance he’s actually pretty friendly, but he does go all out when in battle. His cursed Crimson Lance, Gae Bolg is of the Anti-Army specification.
Li Shuwen (voiced by Kunihiko Yasui) is an Assassin class and is a master of Bajiquan, the true essence of a warrior. He has killed many of his opponents but doesn’t consider himself a murderer. He considers an encounter with another warrior a place of mutual readiness and conviction, where death for one person is inescapable.
When you’re in the digital realm of SE.RA.PH, not only are there Servants, there are also rulers of the domain known as “Attack-Type Programs”. These Programs aim to stop your invasion and have various features and capabilities with which to do this. Let’s take a look at some of them!
Soldiers are a close-combat type enemy that swarms in groups. If you’re not careful then their sheer number could overwhelm you.
Commanders have much higher specs compared to soldiers and are the ones that lead the soldiers into battle.
Snipers (as the name suggests!) are archer-class Attack-Type Program that attack from a distance. In order to fight it you’ll need to try to get close to it.
Dreadnoughts are very large Attack-Type Programs that far exceed the other types. It can unleash powerful attacks which are difficult to interrupt.
Plants are special Attack-Type Programs which are actually able to create aggressors. These aggressors not only protect the area around the plant but can also invade other sectors. You’ll need to destroy these enemy types as a top priority.
And finally we have Recons to show you! These enemies attack from the air. Although its bombardment power isn’t very high it can paralyze you if it hits you.
When you’re in battle you’ll find that attribute attacks and status ailments are very important to consider. Attribute attacks are elemental attacks, basically attacks that are accompanied with fire, thunder, ice, poison, etc. These attacks can induce a status ailment on the enemy. Some ailments can cause damage, others can limit the enemy’s actions.
Here’s a list of some of the status ailments in the game:
Poisoned State: Gradually reduces HP
Burned State: Increases damage received
Shocked State: Unable to attack for a fixed period
Frozen State: Unable to move for a fixed period
We have some screenshots now of some of the areas you’ll get to visit and battle through. The first of which is Mare Aurum. This is an area ruled by Nero Claudius and has a Roman theme to it.
Mare Luxuria is ruled by Tamamo no Mae and is themed like ancient Kyoto.
Mare Melum is where another Holy Grail War was once fought. It has tall temples towering over sacred grounds as well as new urban-esque skyscrapers.
Mare Origo is where the top Servants rule and is a world of origin and chaos.
