Gust has shared some brand new information on the Alchemy Exam as well as some more character introductions for upcoming game, Atelier Firis: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey.

First up lets take a look at some of the new characters!

Below is artwork for Annnelies Exner (voiced by Saori Terai and illustrated by Yuugen). She’s the lead librarian at the Information Institute which is where they gather information from adventurers. Despite her analytical and clear headed personality she’s actually unbelievably clumsy.

Tiana Paschen (voiced by Megumi Toda and illustrated by NOCO) is the kind of girl who just can’t stay in one place for too long which is why she became an adventurer. She sells any items she collects on her travels and calls them the “Tiana Selection”.

Fritz Weissberg (voiced by Kenyu Horiuchi and illustrated by Yuugen) is a travelling doll maker who’s goal in life is to put on the greatest puppet show. He used to be a mercenary so is very skilled with the sword.

If you’ve read any of our previous coverage then you’ll be aware that Firis must pass a test to become a Certified Alchemist and the exam will take place in one years time. Before she can take the exam she’ll need to collect letters of recommendation which is why she’s travelling to various places with her older sister Liane in order to do so.

There are three parts to the alchemy exam that will test Firis’ abilities. There will be a written exam, synthesis exam and practical skill exam.

In the written exam Firis needs to answer questions within a given time limit.

In the synthesis exam you’ll need to create lots of high-quality items within a time limit. The practical skills exam will test Firis’ fighting skills.

Crafting during your travels will be easier as you’ll be able to take your Atelier with you as you travel! Whenever you find bonfires in the field you’ll be able to summon your Atelier and craft on the go. You can also decorate the inside of your Atelier and some of the items you pick will have special effects…

Atelier Firis: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey is due out in Japan on November 2nd followed by a Western release on an as yet unannounced date.

Cool, I’m pleased as punch that Fritz returns from Atelier Sophie, appearing alongside his daughter this time. =) Firis really is shaping up nicely. Very eager to play the follow-up to one of my favorite RPGs from 2016!
