Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan has announced additional details for Accel World VS Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight, topping it off with some media and a Japanese release date.
Featuring a clash between Brain Burst and ALfheim Online, the virtual spaces of Accel World and Sword Art Online, this action RPG will feature a mix of fighting and cooperating as players edge closer to the mystery of the merging worlds. As for how things play out, we can tell you that the prologue of the story starts when Kirito and Asuna follow an unusually acting Yui – who leads them right into an assault by mechanized humanoid avatar “Black Lotus.”
This leads you into a story that’s about thirty hours long, featuring over thirty playable characters in a “harsh” scenario written by creator Reki Kawahara.
Along the way you’ll come into contact with the likes of;
- Kirito (cv; Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)
- Black Lotus (cv; Sachika Misawa)
- Asuna (cv; Haruka Tomatsu)
- Silver Crow (cv; Yuki Kaji)
- Lisbeth (cv; Ayahi Takagaki)
- Lime Bell (cv; Aki Toyosaki)
- Silica (cv; Rina Hidaka)
- Scarlet Rain (cv; Rina Hidaka)
As for in-game action, you’ll use the “Ground-Sky Active Change Battle” system; forming a party of three characters and swapping between them in real time. Think of it as an evolved version of the Lost Song action abilities.

Is any of this sounding good to you? Well how does a release date sound?
According to Bandai Namco, Accel World VS Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight is due out in Japan on March 16th, 2017. It’ll be priced at 6,800 yen post-launch, but if you buy it before April 12th you’ll only have to pay 6,120 yen. Early adopter score! Better yet, pre-orders will net you Sword Art Online movie costumes and DLC that adds playable characters (who would be hard to add to the main story).
Those looking to go the limited edition route have options as well, as a Dengeki Limited Edition will be available for the title. It’ll include an Abec-sensei & Hima-sensei illustrated limited edition box, a soundtrack CD, a special contents Blu-ray, a special case for the CD and Blu-ray, a mini clear poster, a special-make CD character acrylic key chain, and a voucher for DLC that you can use in the game. Pricing on this limited edition is currently unclear.
Those looking to learn more might want to check out Bandai Namco’s broadcast on the 20th, as they’ll be covering game and anime content – which will likely include something from Millennium Twilight.
