Koei Tecmo has introduced a brand new ‘Endless Eclipse’ mode, pairing that with new details and media showing battle mechanics and alternative armaments.
First up are details on Berserk‘s Endless Eclipse Mode, which offers a bit of non-story based action as a swarm of enemies simply stream in for you to prove your mettle against. Aside from just the sheer number of foes, this mode has you rushing to complete various missions in order to overcome the deadly Eclipse – slashing your way to stronger, and harder missions as you progress. Success here will help determine your success in the real game, as this mode isn’t kind to the weak.
Additionally, we’ve been given details on new battle mechanics and sub-weapons, which look to add variety to the title’s combat and immerse you in the world. Sub-weapons offer unique abilities and effects in addition to those of your weapon of choice, though it must be noted that they can’t be used as often. Bummer.
An example of a sub-weapon would be Guts’ crossbow and artificial arm cannon – which allow for quick area attacks on long-range targets, or Zodd’s brutal rush attacks which clear his path of foes.
There’s also the young witch Schierke, who can use magic to cast spells and deal damage from afar, while also able to summon companions to protect her and aid her in combat. Check her out in a trailer below.
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is due out on February 21st, 2017 in North America and February 24th, 2017 in Europe.
