Coming from the latest blog post from Yacht Club Games it seems Shovel Knight is going to be undergoing some changes over the coming months.

First things first, for the current owners of Shovel Knight the game will soon become known as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. Why the change? Well from some point in the spring Yacht Club Games plans to release each of the campaigns as their own standalone adventures available for purchase on other platforms, the Treasure Trove edition will be the complete edition with all the campaigns and modes.

So whilst this doesn’t really affect Vita owners you get the name change anyway, wouldn’t want to feel left out after all. Vita owners of the Treasure Trove edition will still continue to get all the planned expansions for free as part of updates so fear not.

What will affect Vita owners however is the increase in price to coincide with these changes. No dates are announced yet but for anyone who doesn’t own Shovel Knight, at some point in the spring when the re-branding occurs, the price for the Treasure Trove edition will increase. So if you’re on the fence, now might be the time to buy.

Lastly we have our first look at the forthcoming body-swapping. Check out the body swapped Shovel Knight and Shield Knight below.

So are you going to be taking the jump into Shovel Knight before the price increase? Looking forward to the body swapping feature? Let us know in the comments below.

Shovel Knight is available now for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, the Spectre of Torment Campaign is set to release this spring and King Knights Campaign is due out later this year for all platforms. Stay tuned to The Vita Lounge for more information as we get it.

Thise team deserves our money, and yet they’re cool enough to tell us we can still buy their game before the price goes up. Super classy.

How will this affect the people who bought the physical version of shovel knight on vita?

    • Reece Heyworth

You’ll still get all the content going forward, with the exception of Battle mode which isn’t coming to Vita, so essentially, it doesn’t change anything you still have the same awesome game.

cool. I’m assuming the extra content will appear as an update to the application and be stored on sony memory card in the system rather than on the cartridge itself.

        • Reece Heyworth

Yeah you’ll get updates similar to how the plague knight campaign was added

          • Rob

ok cool. I think that went to the memory card. I kinda wish all application updates would goto the cartridge because an up to date cartridge makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside for some reason. It just seems cleaner I dunno.

I couldn’t tell that Shovel Knight was body swapped without your telling me… that’s what armor does people. Real armor, I mean, not the chain mail bikinis in some games (though, I don’t mind those either). Looking forward to Spectre Knight!

  • They are the best. Love it!

Will the Vita version be getting both Spectre Knight and King Knight expansions?
