The shortest month of the year brings a not-quite-so-short list of coming games, many of which have been on our (or your) radar for quite some time.

Intrigued? Read on!

Now we all know that some games can appear out of the blue and release on our favourite handheld with only a few days notice, but here are the key titles that we can expect this month;

Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers

Release Date – February 1st (EU)
Publisher – Koei Tecmo
Genre – Strategic Simulation / Action

Tactics-style epic Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers is set in the legendary Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. It pulls roots from the Dynasty Tactics series, offering a unique way to experience the events of the saga, and adds two new characters to the mix; Lixia – a girl with magical powers that was sealed inside an icy shrine for centuries, and Lei Bin – Zhao Yun’s childhood friend and a master of lore!

Here’s the official description from the press release;

“Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers unfolds during the chaotic end days of the Han dynasty, when ancient China was overwhelmed by uprisings and internal strife within its imperial court. The story follows renowned warrior Zhao Yun and his close friend Lei Bin, who unwittingly liberate a young girl, Lixia, from a mystical prison. The two friends and the mysterious Lixia then find themselves entangled in a pivotal struggle for the salvation of the world, wherein they must navigate the maelstrom that is Three Kingdoms era China, meet countless great warriors and take part in historic battles. In their efforts to unravel the mystery behind Lixia’s imprisonment, Zhao Yun and Lei Bin uncover a hidden, terrible fate, forcing them to make difficult decisions in a battle that will echo throughout history.”

Uncanny Valley

Release Date – February 7th NA / 8th EU
Publisher – Cowardly Creations
Genre – Survival Horror

Uncanny Valley is a survival horror game, and is said to feature a “bone chilling story, exploration and heart pounding action.” You play as Tom, a security guard who works at a remote facility. During the course of his shift he obviously got bored, so decides to start exploring and begins to find things he shouldn’t, and probably wishes that he hadn’t.

The game features a huge facility to explore, and delivers a detailed story, intense moments or dread as well as a consequence system. Whenever you fail in the game, your journey will continue but with severe consequences that impact the gameplay and the story. This could be a slower movement speed for failing to avoid your enemies and more, which ultimately adds to the tension in the experience. You can “die” in the game, but Cowardly Creations said that they wanted to minimize repeated deaths to avoid frustration from repeating sections over and over.

Originally released in 2006 on PC, Ys Origin is now coming to PlayStation Vita – the prequel title set hundreds of years before the rest of the Ys series. It serves to tell the back-story of Ys, Darm Tower, the Black Pearl, the twin goddesses, and the six priests; using playable characters Yunica Tovah, Hugo Fact, and ‘The Claw’ to tie the story together from three different angles.
