Dengeki Bunko’s A Certain Magical Index series and Sega’s Cyber Troopers Virtual-On series collide in game form, thanks to inspiration from a crossover light novel published last year.

Set in the world of A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Magical Virtual-On integrates Virtual-On as a sport. This sport quickly turns into a world crisis however, as people piloting the mecha and participating in the sport have lead the way to a rather unwelcome future.

As for the connections to the established works, it seems that A Certain Magical Index‘s Toma Kamijo, Index, Accelerator, and Mikoto Misaka will be present – each of them piloting Virtuaroids and battling in chaotic settings in Academy City. They’ll continue on the high-speed action sequences that the Virtual-On series is famous for, with special abilities wielded by the A Certain Magical Index series characters amplified by piloting their Virtuaroids. This amplification of powers is said to be one of the game’s biggest draws, and if you’ve been following either series you can probably imagine why.

Along with the announcement came a teaser trailer, so check it out below before you move on;

A Certain Magical Virtual-On is aiming for a 2018 Japanese release, so keep an eye out for more information on this one as we edge ever closer. 😉

    I’m actually kind of sad this will never make it over to the West. We need some CMI games to come over.

    So, is this a visual novel or a virtual on game? And will it ever see release in the west?
