Akiba’s Trip seems to be doing quite well for a niche experience, at least according to some numbers from Acquire.

Thanks to Famitsu and developer Acquire, it looks like we’ve now got some solid numbers on the Akiba’s Trip series’ worldwide shipped numbers across all platforms. The numbers seem to work out to 300,000 for both of the ecchi action RPG titles – Akiba’s Trip and Akiba’s Trip 2 – in Japan, while in the West the lone localization of Akiba’s Trip 2 (aka; Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed) has hit the heftier number of 360,000 all by itself.

The Western and Japanese box art for the series.

Put together however, this number is just shy of two-thirds of a million (660,000) in total shipped Akiba’s Trip series titles, and is a very respectable accomplishment for such a polarizing title.

Editor’s Note; Apparently the source doesn’t signify whether these numbers are shipped or sold – however while not all shipped games are sold, all sold games are shipped (which makes “shipped” a logical truth either way). We chose to report the safer assumption, though it just as well may be “sold” in the end.

Fun game. I definitely am glad I’ve got my copy. Wouldn’t mind a chance to play the original, but with how the vita is going lately, I doubt they’ll release it as a PSP title. Oh well.

Loved both games, I own them both, and the recent anime show.
    Great fun.
