Ok, so since this thread has turned into more of an information thread on Asian English releases I've updated it to include all the information discussed so far.

For some games released in Asia, an English translation is done; in some cases these prints are the only way to get an "English" physical version of the game. For example Sword Art Online was only released in the west in digital form, yet in Asian territories it saw a full physical release. Sometimes these releases come with an English language option, in a case with English text.
With many games there are a few different release variants and often very little way of telling them apart, however from discussion so far the one key thing to look out for is the "Memory card required" box on the bottom left of the case art (see below); this being in English means that the copy is the fully English cover variant of the game and will contain an English langue option when playing the game.

Confirmed list of full English cover Asian releases that didn't release physically in the west:
    • Soul Sacrifice Delta
    • Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment
    • Final Fantasy X-2
    • Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines
    • Moe Chronicle
    • MLB: 15 (US release was a code in a box)
    • Deception IV: Nightmare Princess
    • Resident Evil Revelations 2
    • Samurai Warriors 4-II
    • Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires
    • Digimon: Cybersleuth
    • Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs-Force
    • Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3
    • Gundam Breaker 3
    • Civilization Rev 2+
    • Deemo: The Last Recital
    • A.W. Phoenix Fiesta
    • Dragon Quest Builders
    • SD Gundam G Generation Genesis
    Suspected but not confirmed:
    • Super Robot Wars V
Releases with English language options but foreign case art
    • Dokuro
    • Ogarythm
    • Chaos Rings 1 and 2 (codes with CR3 boxed copy)
    • Skullgirls 2nd Encore (LRG also released a version for western markets)
    • Airship Q (via patch)

The ones you know about are most of the key titles off the top of my head, with only Oreshika not being on my mental list.

Also, when you say Sword Art Online you should note that it's set to be both - IIRC Lost Song is going to Asia in English physical too.

Thanks! Do all of those have English on the spine?

It looks as though the SS: Delta/FFX-2 are the "English" copies, hence the english on the back but from what I've found there should be SAO and Dokuro with full English on the rear of the box

That's as I suspected. It seems those with the "Playstation Official Product" where the rating would normally go is indicative of the English box versions, though I suspect as far as the content of the card goes it will match the Chinese versions of the game. I'm assuming these full English versions are a variant for Hong Kong but I've been unable to verify that 100% so far

Where do you import your games from Mr Tornado?

Got FFX-2 from PlayAsia but SSD is difficult to find now.

Found a copy of the Chinese variant for comparison to Mr_Tornado's full English version. Completely difference art, Chinese text next to the Delta in the logo, memory card box is in chinese and there is a traditional chinese version text. FYI from what I hear Mr_Tornado's variant is by far the rarer of the 2

Also the FFX-2 has a subtle difference that gives away the variation.

Most of my games come from Nippon Yasan & Play Asia, though I've used eBay for quite a few now. SSD was bought from Play Asia back in July 2014.

Thanks for the thread guys, its a really handy guide when it comes to importing games (especially RPG's, I didn't realise the new SAO would be in English as well, good news for sure!).

Interesting! I wonder where that was purchased as I've never seen it before.

    Edit

There's a copy on ebay for £88.

This is the cover for Genkai Totsuki Moero Chronicle taken from Play Asia.

Thanks for the thread, I needed this when I was in Japan a few weeks ago haha.

I know we recieved physical releases for these games but the Japanese versions of Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Killzone: Mercenary have full English support. The funny thing with Killzone is the language must be set to English (US) and you need an online pass to play multiplayer so that part of teh game is inaccesable if you have a different region PS account.

I also picked the physical copy of Rayman Origins in Japan. The game is all in Japanese but you only have to navigate the menus and there is only some ingame speech so you dont miss out on much. The game has no Kanji so its all Hiragana and Katakana which if you know them its easy.

I know its not really sticking with the orignal post but i'd thought i'd throw it out there. Second hand games and some new releases are ridiculously cheap in Japan I got them over teh Western releases.

I live in Singapore, where the "official" Physical releases are Asian (R3), and our PSN is the HK one.

However, I'm on the NA PSN store, and i try to get R1 games instead.
The only R3 game I have gotten is FFX, which is in English.

The game shops here sells games from an assortment of regions. It's common to see R1, R2, R3 games on display here. For example: Child of Light R2 is sold here (with a warning on the cover that the DLCs are only for EU PSN)

Actually it was kind of confusing at first.

It seems all of the releases in question with English covers are R3 Chinese versions. It just seems odd that there are 2+ versions of the Chinese releases in some cases.

Didn't know it was a successor to monopiece, might have to pick a copy up if it gets an English case variant.

I found what I think is the English cased copy of SAO on eBay the other day, can't wait to get that.

Hopefully there will be English cased versions of Sword Art Online: Lost Song available to purchase on eBay at some point.
