First off an explanation of fanservice and it's intended definition within this topic. Erotically dressed/acting images of near to partial nudity of either sex.

My answer: like it were it belongs. I enjoy Senran Kagura, Monster Monpiece, Bullet Girls, and heck Akiba's Trip was my first plat. However I personally felt the shower scene in Persona 4 Dancing All Night didn't fit in the game. The other aspect were wonderful and I laughed out loud when Rise said she didn't mind a little fanservice when I put her in that skimpy outfit. That shower bit though just kind of felt shoe horned in.

So how do you feel about this often debated subject, and remember there are no wrong answers just different points of view.

I don't like it. It leads to people buying low quality products for sexy waifus instead of spending their cash on quality games. It doesn't bother me when I see it in a game but when it's the main selling point and helps bad games sell more than good games then I see it as a problem. People wanting different things than me in their games is something I have to deal with though. :p

Sex selling is a part of life and seeing it in Japanese games has never been uncommon, it's just that these games weren't localized before. I do think there are way too many "fanservice"-focused games being localized and not enough... good games. It's not really me being against the games themselves but me finding a majority of the localized games we get pretty average as games. If a series sells on both sex and quality then I'm absolutely cool with it.

All games are better with bewbies.

Imagine if call of duty was top less chick's running around. Would give a whole new meaning to bouncing Betty.

Not really a fan. I don't mind it in games that are kind of built around it -- Senran Kagura, Monster Monpiece, etc, as listed above; you know what you're getting before you go in and if it's not your thing you know to avoid it -- but it's another thing entirely to be playing a plot-heavy or action-based RPG and suddenly finding yourself in the middle of something like that with no warning or option to skip. That sort of thing makes me very very uncomfortable, which is a bit of a shame because I'm finding myself more and more cautious about what I pick up as a result, and no doubt I'm missing out on a lot of games I'd otherwise really enjoy.

I don't mind it to be fair, but sometimes it can be unnecessary.

I personally think games like Senren Kagura are fine. They know what they are and they do not hide it.

In Dungeon travelers 2 I got a reward for defeating each boss or using a specific girl enough times in my group (It really helps XD)

People who hate games like Senren Kagura or Omega Labyrinth don't understand what the games are in my opinion. These games aren't to be taken seriously... These games push the limits of the no nipple VITA policy (Come on... Where do the Senren Kagura girls hide them!?) I find games like that should have there own sub-genre (If they dont have one already), and they do have a niche following.

But a lot of games offer there type of fan service, AR Nosurge had a little, Persona 4 had dating which I consider a fan service type thing (They make you imagine what they do that one night), The Neptunia series has plenty... I can run while looking up skirt (...not that I personally have done that with Noire >.> <.< >.>) , Dead or Alive .... need I say more?

ALSO a lot of people do not realize that a lot of visual novels offer "sex scenes" , and when they are ported to the VITA they get taken out. And in Japan they have A LOT of visual novels on the VITA and most visual novels at least offer some type of fan service.

ALSO I think if you are someone that hates fan service... Might have a hard time liking the Vita...

Most fan service is lost on me because I never saw the anime that it is based on. However, I don't mind it being there since the original audience in Japan probably expects it. That being said, if the fan service is over the top then I will probably pass on the title. A good game does not need sex to sell so copious sexual content probably implies that the game is not very good. Plus, seeing teenage anime girls in their underwear does not turn me on.

I don't think there's any harm done by having it in a game, but I don't like it - I tend to roll my eyes and tolerate it. I can't think of any examples of where I enjoyed a game or even a show more because there was fanservice in it, but I can think of examples both of when it's detracted from, or been irrelevant to my enjoyment.

There was actually one game, and this is sort of spoiler territory for Project X Zone I guess, where I absolutely adored its exclusion. To this day, this moment stands as one of my favourite bits of humour in any game.

If i wanted to watch porn i'd find one of 10 million videos on the net and watch it, i dont play games to watch some cartoon anime chick get her gear off, ive no problems with it and i love looking at naked women doing a whole host of erotic things lol but im not really interested in playing the type of games that have this sort of stuff, probably because i find all the japanese anime stuff not to my liking, but each to their own.

Fanservice is good either way as long as it is funny enough to make you laugh. A good scene of innuendo and dirty jokes makes a great break in a really serious/dark game or book. However if it is just a girl in a bikini talking about nothing interesting the skip button gets used more.

I find that speedo wearing beast in your avatar quite erotic. Just look at how big his sword is.

    The weapon looks cool too.

I hate it when it interferes with an otherwise good game. I was pretty annoyed by it in Danganronpa 2.

Some Fan Service is very cool, but other times it feels very tacked on. Some Fan Service is so bad I have to laugh.

It is what it is and there is nothing to be ashamed about. Look how the media applauded 50 shades of grey as a positive thing with books of it being placed right up the front of your local department store for easy access for all ages, surprised they didnt put the 10 inch dildos adjacent... but god forbid dead or alive which for all purposes is mild in comparison be placed in any game shop without being torn apart by the "sex positivity for women, sex negativity for men" crowd (cough modern feminism).

Its fine if someone doesnt like it hence the power of choice, some times it is a bit much if you just want a normal gameplay experience.

Hmm, seems like so far as many people love it as hate it - with people who don't mind it where it fits outnumbering them both.

Honestly fanservice doesn't bother me as long as the game is good. e.g monster monpiece is an amazing card battler with heavy fanservice, same goes for dungeon travelers 2 which is a really good dungeon crawler but with heavy fanservice.
