Thought this could do with its own thread, though most of us have probably heard of it already.

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/muvluv/muv-luv-a-pretty-sweet-visual-novel-series

Penned by the successful author of Kimi ga Nozumu Eien (well-known as Rumbling Hearts or “Kiminozo”), Koki Yoshimune, the Muv-Luv series started as a high school romance Visual Novel game in 2003 but quickly evolved into an epic science fiction based saga featuring an alternate world, giant aliens, mecha robots, and a complex cast of characters.

Selling more than half a million units since release in Japan alone, The Muv-Luv series has successfully made the transition to anime and manga, even spawning the “Moe Military” trend which is still raging in Japan. With over 3 million individual figurines, robot hobby models, and anime/manga sold; Muv-Luv is a force to be reckoned with and has influenced a huge number of individuals all over the world including prominent artists and creators!

This Kickstarter will focus on the localization and PC/Steam release of the first two titles in the series: Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative.

Quite a few different tiers. I've gone for the $150.00 Vita version...

    Update about physical release:

@muvluvseries: Minor Announcement: Physical Vita(EN) cartridges are _almost_ limited to the KS. It may take time before we _look into_ regular EN release.

I really don't see that ever happening tbh, as highly praised as it turns out Muv Luv is, its just not got the audience to warrant a second run imo.

I went for the $80 physical tier too, more than happy to support projects like this.

I don't think they're being totally open - they're hardly likely to advertise during the kickstarter that people can pick them up elsewhere for less at a later date. While they wouldn't have a second run, if they're producing some - with effectively a load of fixed pre-orders already in the bag - it would make sense to make a chunk more to sell at a later date.

I'm really tempted, but not sure I can justify spending over £50 for a physical copy.

After reading about the game story and the kickstarter in general more I plumped for the Collectors Box. Sounds like an interesting story and I'm always a fan of more developers/translators putting games ike this on the Vita.

It makes it sound like all the $150+ get the figurine but it seems like a pretty big one for them to just add like that.

I'm wondering how their shipping costs are going to work out as what they've quoted surely isn't going to be enough.

Yea, gonna have a think on it. If they manage to close in on 900k I'll maybe bump up to the collector tier.

I'm totally new to this. Why do all characters have terrible hair?

 probably just the case of difference in preference 2048Dan, the girls looks mighty fine to me :D!

On topic, I'm pretty mix about this; on one hand, I'm happy Muv-Luv is going to get an english release but making it through Kickstarter is what slightly bothers me.

I know it's the trend nowadays (funding games through fans/backers via Kickstarter) but I'm just not comfortable yet with the said method. The backers bonuses offered are definitely mouth-watering though ;) (Especially Sumika's Figma !!) - I'm going to root for her goal to be reached.

How hard will this be to get later in a physical version? I might get the $80 physical.

I've been getting I to the visual novels

Do you mean are they going to release it physically after the Kickstarter? There's no guarantee, they've not ruled it out but if they don't you run the risk of having the pay significantly more for it in the event the Kickstarter print run is the only run.

If one were to get the $80 physical before the backing window closes, could it be upgraded to the $150 box at a later date?

Sometimes you can do that but I'm told it varies. Might have to ask them if you plan to do that after the Kickstarter ends.

I'm going to up to $150 if they hit $900k before the end, otherwise meh.

I think you can do that. The description of the $1 pledge tier says "Get access to BackerKit to upgrade your rewards after the campaign ends!" which applies to every tier above that as well.
The recent Yooka-Laylee and Bloodstained campaigns used BackerKit if I recall correctly, and when checking out after the campaign was finished, I remember being able to change and upgrade my pledge amount.

$110,000 in 6 days needed to reach the stretch goal of the Codex. Wonder if they'll reach it.

They do tend to see a surge In the last couple of days when the reminders go out, plus it's pay day for many people Friday. Could still happen
