I have played them on PS2 and I think they were flawlessly great. Are the new versions different enough to get?

Persona 3 Portable is playable entirely from a female perspective, so I would say yeah.

Persona 4 Golden is by far my favorite game of the last decade, if you like the characters, there are so many added scenes and activities for you to enjoy. Definitely play them!

Thank you. What about Persona 1-2? Are they any good?

I only played Persona 1 from those games, and the combat system is mostly or exactly the same as the game it was based on from the PlayStation era. To me it was very slow, and very tedious, I didn't enjoy it.

Basically it's a loyal remake of a game that hasn't aged well at all.

Both games have major improvements over the originals, I would say Persona 3 P and Persona 4 Golden are my favorite JRPGs of all time.

I could say the same about both Persona 2 games. The story is great, but the gampelay mechanics are annoying as hell, the random encounters every three steps, and it became a grindfest just to get a decent persona with a decent skill. I was so burned out that I didn't even finish P2:EP.
