Coming from his personal blog post today the man who did so much for Sony and for the Vita is stepping down at the end of the year to begin his own games development pursuits.

A sad day for all of us but I; like many others, truly am grateful for his efforts. Over Twitter, Shahid personally helped me out numerous times despite his busy schedule which showed how much of an unwavering work ethic he has. As many will attest, Shahid's ability and desire to help people he has never met before makes him in many circles considered to be a friend to people who never met him.

I would love to see an interview with Shahid here one day. I really hope he understands how grateful we all are for everything he has done for our beloved handheld.

All the best from everyone here Shahid. You helped made Vita what it is.

The timing is certainly a surprise, but the decision certainly isn't. The man was a developer before back in the day and those that read his timeline on a regular basis will know that he has been slowly getting more attracted to his developer roots.

Whatever your view on Shahid, he has been one of the most passionate and supportive Vita voices for the system, and has brought a significant quantity of games our way.

Good luck to the man for his future endeavours, with his health and much more. I'll miss him. Unless he doesn't bring Chimera 2 to Vita.

That must surely be the plan, since he talked about it recently?

You would have thought so, he is definitely exploring it. He should do it, his parting gift to Vita fans - although I'd assume it's some way off yet.

I can see this getting a lot of bad sides since he is the only one who they think he had anything to do with the type 0 fiasco of Final Fantasy.

Yeah, that was a mess. You would have thought that he would have known whether it was Vita bound or not, but I've spoken to a few SCEE individuals who told me that each department are closed to each other, communication wise. Not allowed to discuss things internally.

Yup. It's time to get over the Type 0 thing. It's just stupid to still be angry about miscommunication over some sub-par Final Fantasy game. He has done a lot of good stuff for the Vita as well.

Never. He must rot in the deepest depths of purgatory for his heinous crimes.

It is open to interpretation if he even took credit. Also, maybe he did try to make Type-0 happen and when Square Enix, not Shahid, Square Enix announced the game for the Vita he got happy and possibly even thought he had something to do with it. Nothing wrong with a happy reaction from him. Blame Square Enix and possibly Sony but I think Shahid didn't deserved crap for it.

He deserves some criticism for the way he has hyped up what he should have known isn't what gamers want but I have seen no indications that he hasn't done anything but a great job with indies. For that, he does deserve some praise. Felt like he was the guy within Sony who was on our side, even if his hands were tied by Sony, the Vita's hardware and the its terrible position on the market.

I've removed a racist and inflammatory post from here, and the following posts that quoted it.

Being a dick, and a racist one at that is is seriously unacceptable.

Murph - what are the chances of having Mr Ahmad feature in an interview? I suppose after he parts ways with the company the conversation may be a bit more personal and relaxed as opposed to the sometimes filtered 'company' talk enforced on employees.

Only just saw this message fella!

I send an email to Shahid recently whilst he was with Sony, but PR butchered it and only answered five of the eleven questions. I am extremely keen to get him in the magazine in some capacity but I'm sure he would still have his answers filtered somewhat.

If he decides to bring Chimera 2 to the Vita then I'd love to have him in then!
