    I know that sadly.

I read so much hate to the Vita today on some Dutch sites, things like there are no games, No AAA titels like The Witcher or GTA V (dafuq!?) and things like shit games.

So sad, somebody even said to me that there are no Vita games or exclusives, when I said that there are 1200+ games he said that indies, rpgs, visual novels, Japanse games, remakes and non retail games don't count because they are shit.

I'm pissed off about that, so much hate without a reason, and people give BS reasons why.

If we look at how Vita is selling in the West we could say that it was bound to happen, sooner or later, but it was bound to happen. 10-12 mill in 4 years and knowing that a sizeable part of this is from Japan, aren't good numbers for the Vita in the West, no matter how you look at it. The reality is that the console never really took off (for the reasons we endlessly argued on here and various other sites), and it's only a matter of time that Sony stops shipments of the Vita to other countries.

DO NOT WASTE TIME with those people. Even if The Witcher or GTAV were in the console they wouldn't even bother to buy the console, so why you should bother? Let them enjoy their so-called AAAs on their consoles and enjoy the games you want on your console.

I would buy a Vita if GTAV was on it just because of how much I love that game.

Sad moment indeed, but I think everyone expected it at some stage.

On the upside though it won't stop me from expanding my Vita collection (still shitloads of games to get that are already out + the ones that will be released this year makes my wallet weep).

After I will get a second, or maybe even 3rd Vita (just for futureproofing), I should be all set for another few glorious years of portable gaming (after which hopefully I will get through my backlog).

Although expected it's definitely depressing to see it actually happen. I wonder how much longer it has left the UK.

I were never really able to buy games in stores other then the gamestore specialists which really sucked.
I just buy all my games digitally these days.

My Vita might be as old as the day it got released but it's still functioning like its brand new.
One thing i gotta do soon tho is buy a new charger before they run out.

It's still working but god knows for how long.
The cable is sorta kinda broken.

And since i am highly AGAINST importing stuff. (not in a bad way mind you) << I just don't like waiting for my stuff ^^'

    EDIT:
They still had >1<!! in stock at my local game store :3 HELL THE HECK YES :D
    Saves me alot of time

At least the Vita is region free, so people over there can import one. It should be a long long time before that happens in Japan and they have more color options and stuff too. It still seems stupid not to just ship them a couple hundred at a time though, since importing isn't very appealing for most people.

Here is an english article from Wololo for those interested. A sad state of affairs indeed. For devs and gamers both.

    http://wololo.net/2016/04/14/sony-pulling-plug-vita/

Makes you wonder when the firmware updates will stop. Not such a bad thing when it comes to opening possibilities ;)

I have three OLED models so can weather the storm ;)

So it is not just in Holland huh...
    That really is scary.
Will we get any new games from here on out or will this be it's last year for reals this time D:

The only game that keeps me going right now is Senran Kagura since it's new and the only game i did not spend over 200 hours on D:
I really do hope the system can be saved one way or another!

It's a sorry state of affairs, but is the stark reality that the Vita faces. It's just turned 4 in the west, and the vast majority of those that actually want one, own one.

Although "we" (as a collective of Vita fans) have accepted and embraced the current content that arrives on the system, the indies and localisations that we are receiving aren't likely to cause a non-Vita owner to run out and buy a Vita because of them.

There are a good couple of hundred games incoming that we know about, and I'd expect the system to continue to receive games for at least the next 18 months, perhaps longer depending on existing titles fayre. And, as pointed out above, the Vita is region free and can be imported with relative ease for those that do decide to take the plunge. Plus backlog.

Of course in the bigger picture, it's plateauing that audience off and limiting growth for developers, who will then only have a fixed audience to market their games at, when it's already starting to becoming difficult to entice them or convince them to develop. Sony have put their stake well and truly on the PS4, PSVR and the obviously happening PS4K, which leaves no room for the little handheld that could, and would have done better had they given a little more of a shit.

On the other hand though, I've had a fantastic run with the little machine, and more than got my moneys worth from it and if it all stopped tomorrow then I'd have loads to play for some time. Assuming those fuckers didn't pull the digital Vita library a lá PSM.

If they did pull the plug on PSN i would be sure never to buy anything Sony anymore.
Including future plans for a PS4 just for Dissidia Arcade.

The thing that scares me most is the thing that the PSN store library might stop growing from here on out... Atleast in my country.
Sure it might be region free but that doesn't make it "unscary" nontheless :/

Because SCEE is a thing, if something is released in one region, it tends to be released in most, although it's not a guarantee.

Sony need to give a proper statement on things though.

Not like they are ever gonna....
They have been holding their mouth tight and shut for over a year now.....

When it did come from Sony i don't expect much to begin with, But the way they are treating us is just..... disrespectful to put it nicely!

The Vita will be the best mobile gaming hardware long after its death.

I just hope theres a market for hardcore mobile gamers like us to go once it ceases to exist. 3DS doesn't cut the mustard for me, technically and in terms of games (theres maybe two or three I'd buy). iOS games are slowly getting there but touch-screen & tilt only controls will never be good enough for proper gamers.

With any luck, the next Nintendo handheld will come out sooner rather than later and will have more games that aren't solely aimed at kids or Japanese audience.

Either that or a 3rd party will come into the mix. I keeping my eyes on Steams downloadable content also.

The good news is that there are so many good Vita games, if they stopped making games now, I'd still have a years worth of games I'm yet to play.

    Glad to hear you will.
But i mostly do go for the bigger titles, As which i consider: Borderlands, Senran Kagura, Killzone, Toukiden, Freedom Wars,J-Stars, Sly cooper TiT.....

There is many more to name Ofcourse, But the point is i played all of those and at an extensive amount of time aswell.
I consider myself that i got my money worth out of my system aswell but more games is always welcome.

Sure i am and for the time being will enjoy Estival Versus... Probably for atleast 200 hours if not more.
But this obviously won't keep me playing.

The only reason i might have to go back to these older titles would be a friendslist of people to play them with....
Sadly i have never had my luck with other Vita owners, I either get into the wrong group or just rarely talk to the people that i actually have in my list.

Eventually i just end up deleting most people...
The PC community is just much more friendly and engaging i guess :/

I'd optimistically predict longer. As Sony has no Vita successor to transition to, the lifespan may perhaps be longer than some expect.

While it's a shame that the VIta hasn't been the ruunaway sucess that we would all have wanted, it does have a great line up of games - both existing and in development. It's inevitable that production/shipment of new units eventually stops and the release schedule will slowly dry up, but there are loads of incoming titles that I'm really looking forward to and I have a pretrty sizeable backlog of games to play through. Even if nothing new was released after the end of this year, I'll still be playing until 2018!!

Assuming Sony don't release a successor and Nintendo don't offer me enough to tempt me to get a 3DS/NX thingy then I'll have to get my portable gaming fix via either a dedicated handheld steam machine thing, or even a skinny laptop and a PS4 pad!

With many gamers sick of mobile phone games, particularly fremium stuff, I believe that there still is a spot for the PS Vita, alongside the 3DS (and subsequently the NX). If the NX is rubbish, then this might give the Vita a boost from a minor comeback. It will never dominate the 3DS, but still has a place in the world.

The 3DS has an amazing game library with an awful lot of amazing exclusives. It has two Senran Kagura games that in my opinion, at least the second one is just as good as the ones on Vita. Tetris Axis is better then Tetris Ultimate on Vita in every way. It's got Street Fighter 4 which the Vita never got any SF game. Smash Brothers 3DS is an amazing masterpiece better than any fighter on Vita. Mario Kart 7 is amazing and even better than it's console counterpart. Persona Q is right up there on the same level of fun of any dungeon crawler out there. Pokemon is a classic and still as good as it ever was. Dr. Mario online is endless fun. Kirby's Triple Deluxe is a ridiculously fun platformer with loads of replay value. I'm not sure if you like Mario, but Super Mario Land 3D and New Super Mario Bros 2 are freaking incredible. Also it's virtual console has a ton of gems that hold's it's own to PSN's PS1 and PSP classics. Hatsune Miku Project Mirai is just as good as the Project Diva games on Vita with an equal amount of content to F the second. Honestly I could go on and on and on gushing about the 3DS until it was an unbearable wall of text. It's an amazing system and I totally understand why it's outperformed the Vita in all territories.

Well that's how most gamers feel about the Vita so it's totally understandable.
