I'd say this really doesn't bode well for the likelihood of getting future apps that the Playstation TV badly needs.

You'd think that they'd realise that with some video/streaming apps and a cheap bundled remote, and they'd actually have a really strong competitor to things like the Amazon Fire TV :/

That's where the bigger damage will be done, the PSTV is intended as a micro console competitor in that market and it's dearly lacking in terms of the competition. I can handle it not being on the Vita, it makes you wonder about the logic for the TV.

A lot of people see this news as "abandoning of vita" from Sony; not too long ago they brought 2 new apps on vita: network player and twitch.
So, it's clearly a way of reducing costs, but far away from the end of support sides Sony.

I think Sony doesn't even know what they are doing with PSTV - they sell it as remote play device for PS4, what for most people does not work well enough (720p, input lag if not installed perfectly). This should have come out with some new apps (at least Netflix for EU) and bundled with a retail Vita game (maybe Minecraft), so that people get also interested in Vita games.

Network Media Player is actually a two or three year old app from Japan that finally got localized for the European market. Vita has no Twitch app, so I'm assuming you're referring to Live from PlayStation. That came out months ago and Sony likely views it as a cheap way to get Vita owners to buy a PS4 since you can only view content streamed from a PS4.

Still two new apps, that seem useful to me; can't see that as bad, sorry.

Live from PlayStation is good, but the network media player is basically useless as it hardly supports any file types. If they'd let it just play anything through Plex it would have been a major positive.

Sounds like new apps that weren't really asked for though... What about that Netflix app that everyone has been asking about for about the last 3 years?

I ultimately use my vita for games. Period. They could strip all the apps and It would be fine. Only I ever remotely cared that more for is Twitter Simply for posting Screenshots. I don't use Facebook much at all etc. My phone does me better when it comes to social apps and such.

I'd agree on the whole, but do find it quite useful to have a few apps available rather than switching device to do something. Having quick access to stuff like email and social media is handy, but not a killer feature.

Pretty dissapointed with this, just shows where the support is going. That being said I am very happy with my Vita TV purchase.
