Added this gameplay sample to the OP.
I must say, i am enjoying this game much more than I expected. The story, characters and combat are all interesting and have me hooked! Vita GOTY contender?
Euro pre-orders go live today. If you order early enough (within the 75%-100% range) you get a free fan pack. Later orders get less items.
Price is £42.99.
That price hurts my soul.
Just pre-ordered it.
Not sure what to think of it, but from the videos the characters and battles look rather bland. I heard the game is easy with cliche troped characters. Hoping for some more opinions though.
Does the game offer the option of Japanese VA with subtitles, or is it strictly English?
The battles aren't real-time action but the orbment and link systems add depth. The characters probably do start a bit formulaic but I've grown fond of them and their places in the greater story. Has a distinctive falcom feel too if you like the Ys games.
I'd liked a lot to play LoH games on PSP. Unfortunately I have a giant backlog on Vita, after cleaning a little of this list I will take this game.
Bummer indeed. I need original voices. I liked the Ys games themselves, just not the characters so much. The men seem to all be pushovers.
Can't blame XSEED though, looks like there are license issues with falcom games:
Welp, finished the game for the second time and I'll probably get the platinum this week... Can't wait for the second part!!!
Wow - impressive stuff. Especially considering that trophy list! How long did each playthrough take; if it's anything like Trails in the Sky, you must be around 60+ hours each!
The first one took me 120 hours, the second around 40. I could have got the trophy in the second playthrough, but I forgot to buy a book in chapter 4...fr
I still want to get this game but I share your same impression of the game.
What do you guys think, should I also get the PS3 version? Wouldn't the PS3 version have better performance and graphics? Also, if I'm going to get one lionheart edition? Any opinions on what one looks cooler? I'm leaning towards the vita limited edition, but I think the extras are all the same size? I did some googling to try and answer th she questions but I trust vita lounge people the most.
This is a great game, I'd even put it in my top 5 Vita games. Seriously, if you like the RPG's, then I'm sure you'll like this game.
The game is pretty much the same in both platforms, the differences are minimal. With multiplatform games, I always pick the portable version.
Here is an unboxing of the lionheart edition:
That's interesting because I usually take the console version with the thought that it will have better graphics, frame rate, and sometimes even gameplay elements, due to the consoles superior memory and processing power.
Thanks for reply and I will check out the vid!
Interesting, the PS3 version comes with a full owners manual, but the vita version does not.
Wait, now that I remember, the framerate drops during certain events during the last two episodes (not that bad in the sixth chapter, but during certain event in the last one, it's very noticeable). However, this is only when you are outside in the city.
I doubled dipped on this one. Every LofH game I've played except Dragon Slayer and FC (for the second time) on Steam have been on a handheld. Wanted to see it on the big screen for once, no way I wasn't going to support the Vita version though. Cross save made it worth it. I can play at home then take it to work with me.
Finally finished my first play through (120 hours longest ever spent on a game for me). One of the best games I have ever played, its very rare for me to spend time reading all I can within the game (all those books, dialogues ... oh man).
Now to take a short break and play something else before I go back and do a second play through and try to get that platinum trophy.
Can't wait for ToCS 2 to come out.
I am so on the fence on this one !! Can't decide whether to purchase or not.
