I'd go with George Carlin And Bill Hicks without a doubt, very funny men had a real edge to their comedy which is missing these days

I Never enjoyed evens much, i tire of his routine quite quickly and i think Peter Kay hasn't been good for many years, his tv show phoenix nights was excellent though

I will go with that for Peter Kay. I loved Phoenix nights. It was hilarious. I grew up with Lee Evans and find myself using his jokes in everyday life but I get why some people got bored with his jokes.

I've never watched Peter Kay before, but I did catch that Car Share series which I thought was pretty funny.

Carlin sucks politically but his other comedy work is great. Hicks is one of my favorites, as is Dave Chapelle. Chris Rock is funny as hell too.

Don't really have a list, I end up going through phases where I'd watch a whole bunch from a particular comedian. Having said that, Kevin Hart has always been good for me!

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the likes of Ross Noble or Dylan Moran yet!

*ADORED* Black Books and I've never known anyone seque quite as flawlessly as Ross does. Then again, his humour is rather surreal, so probably not for many people.

Also, this line from a Lee Evans show makes me smile, if not laugh, every single time (Sometimes to the point I can't even say it myself!):

[Slapping someone round the face in rhythm to his words. I think he was holding a bunch of flowers]: You FKD up. Go and stand in the window!

    Same here.

I like the joke about being black.

I also like the other joke where he talks about being black.

And then there was that other good joke about being black, however that one isn't quite as funny as the other joke where he makes fun of being black.

    As for me:

    1. Eddie Izzard
    2. Doug Stanhope (although he can F off with his opinions regarding immigration).
    3. Omid Djalili

    I will!

    4. Bill Bailey
    5. Stewart Lee (don't agree with everything he says though) or Dylan Moran

Black Books series 1 was indeed very funny. It sucked when the original writer left after that series. However, it was for a good cause, because he then worked on the fantastic 'The IT Crowd'.

YES! Eddie and Bill are great too! And I like Omid, though I don't know as much of his stuff.

Didn't know The IT Crowd was written by the same guy. I've got friends who have good things to say about it but I've um... never got round to watching it. Now I'm galvanised, haha!

I like The Thin Blue Line, Blackadder and Monty Python as well (I may have forgotten some)
